Deep Down: A Next-Gen Gem?

You and your companions are huddled around a campfire, discussing your next move. You hunt something through the catacombs, a beast of myth: A dragon. Those are the opening moments from the Deep Down(working title) teaser trailer, a next generation title in the works, courtesy of Capcom. It will be a Playstation 4 exclusive, and it looks rather familiar. Watch and see for yourself.

Dragon's Dogma, right? It's no coincidence that they are both the progeny of the same company. While it hasn't been named as a direct sequel, it seems to be a spiritual successor. If you don't know Dragon's Dogma is, I highly recommend that you give it a checking out if the above trailer piqued your interest. Now, to break the trailer up into bite-size chunks. Ready? Here we go.

So, let's begin with the graphics. The cut-scenes look gorgeous, but that is to be expected from the current console generation, never mind the next one. What is impressive, though, is the gameplay. It seems to be spliced in there seamlessly between animations, and it's almost unnoticeable. I only noticed due to the bottom left hand corner, where you can see a scrolling display of spells. The battle with the dragon is beautiful and dynamic, and already has me sold.

The final part, however, that is what gets me. It goes all science-fiction, with a modern day computer message requesting assistance on their quest. Its very similar to how PC gamers communicate on World of Warcraft servers, promising to split the spoils. It even has a display picture of Blanka, the Brazilian beast man of Street Fighter fame. I'm honestly unsure if that is somehow related to the game, or if its a hint that you will be able to hunt in teams, a la Monster Hunter. I sure hope it's the latter, that would be fantastic.

And that's all she wrote, folks. All we have is the working title, the teaser trailer and the console it will be on. No release date, no details on how it will play. It's all speculation at this point. So feel free to guess away in the comments below and let us know your thoughts!
